Tomorrow morning I'm planning on stopping at the Cancer Care facility and dropping off some bagels or donuts for the staff and a small gift for my doctor.

I printed my 'blog for Dr. R. and put it in a binder. I will include this note:

Dr. R.,

Thanks very much for all your help over the past 6 months. You've helped me and my family to cope with a very difficult situation. You certainly have a gift for helping people and it has been my good fortune to have you for my doctor.

I have been working on a weblog, or 'blog relating to my experience with cancer. It has been very therapeutic for me to keep a journal of my experiences. I thought you might like a hard copy of it so you might get a view of cancer care from a patient's perspective. Also, if any one in your office or any patient might like to read it, please feel free to pass it on.

I continue working on the 'blog, although now that I've completed my initial treatment the updates are less frequent. I'm sure updates will increase once I begin my maintenance in May.

The web address is

(be sure to include the dashes if you look it up online)

Some of what is in the 'blog is directly related to my treatment, some related to interaction with my family, some reflects my personal life. I'm sure some of it is quite boring, unfortunately (one thing for certain I can tell you is that my creativity and output increased when I was taking Prednisone). Having said all that, hopefully there are some entries that you would find helpful. And please forgive me for logging the results of my bloodwork! I just love a chart, I guess.

I must say that everyone I have encountered at the Cancer Care facility has been terrific, including the receptionist, the nurses, the scheduler and everyone in between. You have a great staff there and I hope they are aware of the positive difference they make in peoples' lives.

All my best to you and your family. Here's looking forward to a great 2011.

Steve
